The information is intended to review the general process of setting up an interview with the 501c3Cast Podcast and answer frequently asked questions that people participating in interviews have had.
Podcasting is an exciting new form of media that allows audio files to be transferred automatically over the Internet for people to listen to on their mp3 players or computers. It uses a technology called RSS (Really Simple Syndication) to distribute the files and let people know when a new show is ready to be downloaded. “Independent” artist and producers have created podcasts about thousands of subjects and themes. An in-depth definition can be found at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podcast.
Option 1: The ideal way to complete a podcast interview is using a simple voice chat program called Skype and a broadband Internet connection. This application and user registration is 100% free and very easy to use. More information about how to install, register, and use Skype can be found at: http://www.skype.com/help/guides/index.html. Other than installing Skype on your computer, the only other thing you will need is earphones and a microphone or a headset connected to your computer. Many computers today have microphones and speakers built into them.
Option 2: If your proximity allows it, we may perform the interview in person. We will record the interview using a Pocket PC and mp3 recording program.
Option 3: The final options is to use a “regular-old” telephone for the interview. Though this method is convenient, generally, the sound quality is better with Skype or in person. We can also work with other options if you have any suggestions!
